These rental terms apply to reservations made with ChaniaCar at Chania Airport Parking Area. For reservation support, contact info@chaniacar.com or +30 698 196 8649.
Use of Vehicle
- The vehicle is rented under the terms and conditions of the rental contract.
- The vehicle may only be used by the renter or by an extra driver authorized by ChaniaCar.
- Driving on unpaved road surfaces is prohibited.
- Driving to Balos Lagoon is prohibited.
- Loading the car on a boat or using it outside Crete is prohibited without written permission from ChaniaCar.
Pickup, Return and Extensions
- The renter must return the car at the date, time and location indicated on the signed contract.
- For any rental extension, prior permission from ChaniaCar is required.
- The vehicle will be held for up to one hour after the agreed collection time. Please contact ChaniaCar if you expect to arrive later.
- Late returns may incur an additional charge.
- Out-of-hours service between 22:00 and 07:00 is available with an extra charge of EUR 40.
Driver and Licence Requirements
- Driving licences issued within the European Community are accepted.
- International Driving Permits are accepted.
- National driving licences in Roman alphabet and credit-card format are accepted where applicable under the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic.
- All other national driving licences must be accompanied by a valid International Driving Permit in Roman alphabet.
- The minimum driver age is 23 years and the maximum driver age is 70 years.
- Drivers must have held a full licence for at least one year.
- Drivers must show their passport on collection as additional proof of identity.
- Additional drivers must present a passport or ID and a valid driving licence.
Vehicle Category
- Reservations are confirmed for a car group, not for a specific car model.
- The car shown on the voucher is a typical example for the booked group.
- ChaniaCar cannot guarantee a specific make or model.
Travel Restrictions
- Vehicles are not permitted to be taken outside Crete.
- Vehicles are not permitted outside Greek borders.
- One-way rentals are allowed only between specific stations and may include an extra charge.
Included in Your Booking Cost
- Unlimited kilometre / mileage allowance.
- Roadside assistance provided by a third party.
- Local taxes and premium location fee.
- Theft Protection, subject to the insurance conditions.
Fuel, Fines and Penalties
- Fuel is paid by the client, and the vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level as collected. Any difference will be charged locally.
- The renter is responsible for all legal penalties, traffic offences, parking fines and related fees during the rental.
- If ChaniaCar has to process unpaid fines or penalties, an administration fee of EUR 75.00 may apply.
- If plates are removed due to a traffic violation during the rental, the renter may be charged twice the fine amount plus an administration cost of EUR 75.00.
- If plates are lost during the rental, the renter must report the loss to the police and provide the report on return, with an additional charge of EUR 100.00.
Accidents, Damage and Theft
- In case of an accident, the customer must call the police and ChaniaCar immediately.
- The renter must provide the police report and complete ChaniaCar's accident report when returning the car so the agreed insurance can be applied.
- If the required accident documentation is not provided, the customer may be charged the total damage cost.
- In case of theft or fire, the renter must contact the police immediately and provide the police report, rental agreement and vehicle keys to the rental location.
- If the whole car is stolen and the key is not returned, the total value of the car may be charged.
Cancellation Policy
Please contact ChaniaCar as soon as possible if your plans change. Final cancellation details are handled according to the confirmed reservation terms.
